"BCH Group" Chen Zhi was reported to own a luxury apartment in Tokyo and may have attempted to start a business in Japan to obtain long-term residency status.
According to a report by Ming Pao citing Japan's Kyodo News on November 18, Shenchao TechFlow stated that Chen Zhi, the founder of the “BCH Group” alleged to be the mastermind behind telecommunications fraud in Cambodia, owns a high-end residence in Minato, Tokyo.
According to information from Japanese real estate websites, each unit in this apartment building has an area of over 150 square meters. Reports indicate that if you rent this unit, the monthly rent can reach several million yen, with some second-hand houses selling for over 1.6 billion yen (approximately 80.34 million HKD).
The report mentioned that Chen Zhi might be attempting to obtain long-term residence status in Japan by starting a business. U.S. authorities have applied to confiscate approximately $12 billion in Bitcoin held by Chen Zhi. The amount of funds he has amassed through illegal means is substantial, and some of the funds may have already flowed into Japan through money laundering and other methods.
The company established by Chen Zhi in Chiyoda, Tokyo is called “Prince Group”. The company's originally registered address was located adjacent to the Prince headquarters building in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, and was changed in 2024 to a luxury apartment in Minato, North Aoyama. According to local sources in Cambodia, Chen Zhi has traveled to Japan multiple times.
