A reporter asked about U.S. President Trump stating that in response to China's export controls on rare earths and other related items, the U.S. would impose a 100% tariff on China. What is China's comment on this? Will China impose new tariffs on goods imported from the U.S.? Lin Jian responded that the spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce has already clarified China's position on this matter. I want to emphasize that recently, the U.S. has continuously introduced a series of restrictions and sanctions against China, severely harming China's interests. China firmly opposes this. Lin Jian stated that the U.S. not only has not reflected on its actions but also threatens with high tariffs, which is not the correct way to engage with China. China urges the U.S. to promptly correct its erroneous actions, guided by the important consensus reached in the conversations between the two heads of state, to resolve respective concerns through dialogue on the basis of equality, respect, and reciprocity, properly manage differences, and maintain stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.
