OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's cryptocurrency Worldcoin development company, Tools for Humanity, announced that it has raised $115 million in Series C financing. It has still won a large amount of financing in the long bear market and has become the most dazzling star in the cryptocurrency field.
Blockchain Capital led the round
Tools for Humanity’s round of funding was led by Blockchain Capital, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Bain Capital Crypto, and Distributed Global. Co-founder and CEO Alex Blania declined to disclose the company's valuation when interviewed. The new funding will be used for product development and scaling the team, he said.
Founded in 2020, Worldcoin expects to create an open source agreement for global financial fairness and inclusiveness. The vision is to build the world's largest and fair digital identity and digital currency system, and realize identity authentication by scanning the iris of everyone on the planet. According to reports, the products of the project are mainly oriented to three major areas:
WorldID: a digital identity based on privacy protection and personality proof;
WorldCoin: Tokens that are freely distributed to people around the world, with an estimated benefit of 1 billion people;
WorldAPP: A cryptocurrency wallet that allows people to pay, buy and transfer money globally, launched earlier this month.
