The innovative music platform KOR Protocol leads a new era of digital copyright

A revolutionary tool is changing the way music creators mix and release their works to adapt to our increasingly virtualized lifestyle.

KOR Protocol is a decentralized intellectual property platform designed to help creators protect and monetize their works. The platform opened to global creators and developers on September 26th. Supported by several well-known web3 institutions, KOR Protocol leverages blockchain technology to provide a scalable and transparent IP management system.

Starting this week, developers around the world can access the KOR Player software development kit to install and use the protocol, marking the end of the era of traditional mixing methods. KOR Player allows creators to transform music into various forms such as game soundtracks, fan remixes, and more, without violating copyright rules.

The developer of KOR Protocol and its KOR Player, Pixelynx, stated that the related projects have attracted over 600,000 users, including the AI music platform KORUS and the Netflix Black Mirror "Smile Club" experience. The latter sold out in just 3 hours, minting approximately 285,000 NFTs and generating $1.5 million in revenue.

Pixelynx was co-founded by entertainment industry veteran Inder Phull along with electronic musicians Joel "Deadmau5" Zimmerman and Richie "Plastikman" Hawtin. To gain a deeper understanding of the development of the KOR Protocol, we interviewed Phull to discuss how it works, its potential impact on digital rights, and his views on the future of the entertainment industry.

Phull stated that the KOR protocol integrates the technology that Pixelynx has been building, unlocking the next stage of growth through on-chain IP management and distribution. They are building an entertainment ecosystem that allows IP holders to put their IP on-chain and interact with the community through different applications.

Phull believes that the metaverse is the future of the internet and entertainment, providing a more immersive internet experience brought about by technological integration. He emphasizes that the metaverse is not only about immersive experiences but also includes the core element of digital ownership.

Talking about the collaboration with Deadmau5, Phull reminisced about their origins. At the age of 23, Phull won a music industry competition and was subsequently invited to share his vision with Deadmau5 and his manager, and the two sides quickly hit it off and became business partners.

Phull believes that the music industry particularly needs this solution. The pandemic has highlighted the vulnerability of the industry, and NFTs provide artists with a new way to directly release content to fans and creatively allocate value. He stated that NFTs will not replace streaming but can complement it by helping artists sell digital products, experiences, and more.

The KOR protocol has been validated in the "Black Mirror" project. This project created the "Smile Club" parallel universe, where users must smile every day to enter. Over 200,000 people participated, and 7,000 NFTs sold out in 2.5 hours. Holders can participate in tasks and challenges that drive the plot development.

The KOR protocol is an on-chain IP infrastructure for the full lifecycle management of IP. Creators can register IP, set rules and permissions, and facilitate collaboration. Royalties are paid in cryptocurrency via smart contracts but can be converted to fiat currency. Licenses are based on traditional contracts and have legal validity.

Phull indicates that the system is attractive to both large companies and independent creators. He suggests that creators who are new to web3 find their own community, actively engage, and try out products. Pixelynx is about to launch the Founder's Pass NFT to commemorate the protocol's launch, and Phull encourages interested individuals to join the KOR Protocol Discord community.

The value capture mechanism seems acceptable, and Depth and Liquidity are worth observing. Let's check the data again after 3 o'clock.
