El Salvador Decides to Play it Safe Against Quantum Attacks 😅

The Salvadoran government has distributed the National Strategic Bitcoin Reserve of 6,284 BTC (~$680 million) across 14 new addresses due to the potential threat from quantum computing.

The coins are distributed across wallets, each of which contains up to 500 BTC

“Limiting the funds at each address reduces exposure to quantum threats,” the country’s Bitcoin Office said.

According to the agency’s explanations, spending funds from a Bitcoin address makes the public key visible. This carries the risk of hacking the private key given the development of computing technologies

This approach combines storage diversification and limiting the potential impact of hacking on the reserve, the authorities believe. #btc# #eth# #ltc# #sol# #xrp#
