Stefan Thomas created the Interledger Protocol. Founded Coil too. He's now crypto's walking warning sign. Back in 2011, Thomas made a simple video explaining Bitcoin. Got paid 7,002 BTC for it. By September 2025, that forgotten payment ballooned to hundreds of millions. Kind of mind-blowing, really 🤯
The twist? He can't touch it. Not a single satoshi.
His Bitcoin sits trapped in an IronKey USB drive. These things are brutal. Ten wrong passwords and everything locks forever. Thomas has tried eight times already. Just two chances left before his millions vanish into digital dust.
"I've made peace with the loss," he says. Gave up trying. It seems the crypto world doesn't care about your sob story. No keys? No coins. Simple as that 💸
Thomas isn't the only one. Some British guy, James Howells, tossed his hard drive with 8,000 Bitcoin into the trash. 2013. Now it's buried somewhere under mountains of garbage. Worth a fortune.
