Trump's doing it again. He's hosting a big closed-door dinner in the freshly spruced-up White House Rose Garden this Thursday. About two dozen tech and business bigwigs will be there.

The fancy dinner comes right after Melania's AI thing earlier that same day. A White House person confirmed it. First tech-policy dinner for this administration.

Mark Zuckerberg from Meta's coming. So is Tim Cook from Apple. Bill Gates too. Sam Altman from OpenAI got an invite to this private shindig.

Greg Brockman's on the list. Sergey Brin. Shyam Sankar from Palantir. And that Scale AI guy, Alexandr Wang—now running some superintelligence team at Meta.

Trump Leaves Musk Off Guest List While Crypto People Make the Cut

Sundar Pichai's coming. Satya Nadella too. Safra Catz from Oracle and Micron's David Limp. These folks seem friendly to Trump's economic plans or showed up at his tech announcements before.

David Sacks, now the White House crypto and AI guy, got an invite. Kind of surprising that Jared Isaacman from Shift4 will be there—Trump pulled his NASA nomination in June. No reason given.

No Elon Musk though. Interesting omission. He was Trump's special government employee early on, then ran that DOGE crypto office before quitting in May.

Trump Gets Personal About Missing Musk

On The Scott Jennings Show, Trump didn't hold back. "He's got 80% super genius, and then 20% he's got some problems. And when he works out the 20%, he'll be great."

Trump kept going. "I always liked him. I like him now. But he went off the reservation and he wished he didn't do it." Called Musk "a man of common sense" and "a good man." Added, "I don't think he has a choice. What's he gonna do? He's gonna go with the radical left lunatics? They're lunatics."

Musk dumped at least $277 million into Trump and Republican campaigns. Later claimed he delivered Trump's 2024 win and the Republican Senate majority. June 5 on X, he posted: "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate," then added "Such ingratitude."

Things got messy after Musk trashed the administration's "Big Beautiful Bill" tax legislation. Called it a "MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK" online.

Trump first threatened Musk's government contracts. Then softened in June. "Look, I wish him well. You understand? We had a good relationship, and I just wish him well."
