Citibank plans to launch encryption asset custody services in 2026.

According to news from Hash World, Citibank has announced plans to provide custody services for encryption assets in 2026. Biswarup Chatterjee, the bank's Global Head of Partnerships and Innovation, revealed that as Wall Street giants expand into the cryptocurrency space, the bank is developing its own custody technology and seeking partnerships with third parties. The plan is to launch a reliable custody solution in the coming quarters aimed at clients such as asset managers. Currently, Citibank is considering the use of stablecoins in underdeveloped areas of financial services and payment systems, and as clients expand into these countries and interact with local vendors and customers, similar stablecoin products may emerge, but they are still in the early stages of exploration.
