Weekend thoughts. Missed the x402 cat minting this morning, but later bought a few on the secondary market, and the overall visual effect is pretty good. I’ve always been quite interested in the x402 payment protocol behind this project.

Recently, I saw someone summarize the core logic of the protocol: through the EIP7702 upgrade plan, the seller’s EOA account can directly embed payment logic. This design is clever—it can operate in an environment with no Gas consumption and minimizes trust costs. At the same time, it’s compatible with universal token standards like ERC20 Permit, so there’s no need to create a whole new system just for payments.

This approach does represent an improvement in on-chain payment experience.

EIP7702 is indeed quite interesting, but I think it still depends on how well it is implemented in practice.

Damn, EIP7702 is really awesome. It directly saves gas and reduces trust costs. This is the way of on-chain payments that should be.

eip7702 is really awesome, but by saving on gas, does trust really drop to the lowest? I'm still a bit skeptical.

I'm a bit confused about EIP7702 as well, but it sounds really impressive—directly bypassing the gas issue? If it can really be implemented and used in practice, the bunch of messy issues with on-chain payments might actually get better.
