The current public chain race seems to be blooming with various projects. Solana is known for its speed, Ethereum for its security, but no one has truly solved the hidden fatal problem—fragmentation of data storage.
What does reality look like? NFT, blockchain game, and SocialFi asset metadata are indeed on the chain, but what about key files like images, videos, and front-end interfaces? They are still the old way, hanging on AWS or unreliable IPFS gateways. It's like buying a sports car but only being able to drive on muddy roads—the hybrid architecture of on-chain assets combined with Web2 storage is essentially a house of cards.
This is why storage network projects are emerging. Filecoin takes the route of cold storage, but high-performance DApps need a different logic—an instant, cheap, and censorship-resistant data availability layer. This decentralized storage approach, focused on high throughput scenarios, is filling a critical gap in the Sui ecosystem. To put it simply, without this foundational infrastructure, even the fastest public chain performance advantages will be bottlenecked by storage issues. That’s why it’s so crucial for large-scale application deployment.

Exactly right, this is the point I've been complaining about all along. I've seen too many cases of NFT images dropping links; the metadata is fine, but the images return a 404 error, which is even more disastrous than a paper-thin house.

Oh dear, it's the same spiel again... The project team has packaged it so well. Fragmented storage is indeed a pain point, but can the Sui ecosystem folks really solve it? I'll take a look at the contract code first.

nah the storage fragmentation angle is legit though... everyone obsessing over TPS while the entire architecture is held together with duct tape and centralized infra. it's the classic case of optimizing the wrong metrics entirely.

The paper house analogy is spot on. The current chains are indeed as dangerous as high leverage without stop-loss. If AWS crashes once, the health factor of the entire ecosystem is directly wiped out.

Well said, storage is really the Achilles' heel of public chains. No one wants to complain, but everyone knows.

A sports car running on a dirt road—that's a perfect metaphor. Only now do I realize that storage is truly the ceiling.

Oh wow, this is the truth. Driving a sports car on a dirt road really is a waste.

The analogy of a paper house is brilliant, hitting the nail on the head. There is indeed an opportunity in the Sui ecosystem.
