Ethereum Glamsterdam Upgrade Incoming: EIP-8070 Sparse Blob Pool Included as a Candidate, Blob Transaction Block Space Increased by 40%

【ChainNews】The Ethereum development team recently held the 172nd Consensus Layer Developer Meeting, where discussions on two major upgrade directions became the focus.

The Glamsterdam upgrade is currently being closely prepared. Notably, the EIP-8070 proposal for “Sparse Blob Pool” has been included as a candidate feature for the upgrade. This means that the processing efficiency of blob transactions is expected to be further optimized. It is also worth mentioning that the Fusaka hard fork—the second fork focused on optimizing blob parameters—has successfully gone live on the mainnet. Data shows that this upgrade has increased blob transaction block space by 40%, which is a significant step forward for scalability.

Regarding the preparation for the Hegota upgrade, developers have opened a window for feature proposals. If you have relevant technical proposals, the deadline is February 5th. All proposals need to be published in the Ethereum Magicians community and presented in detail at the developer meeting to be considered.

The meeting also discussed the testing challenges of ePBS (Ethereum Proposer-Builder Separation), suggestions for improving the censorship resistance mechanisms of the consensus layer, and the optimization directions for the EIP governance process itself. While these topics are somewhat technical, they are directly related to the long-term healthy development of Ethereum.

The 40% improvement in blob sounds good, but I wonder how long it can actually be maintained... --- Optimizing blob again, can this really solve the gas fee problem this time? --- Glamsterdam sounds very Dutch, looking forward to the effect. --- Sparse blob pool? Sounds quite advanced. What practical benefits does it have for ordinary users? --- 40%? That number looks comfortable, but once it goes live, it might be discounted again. --- Fusaka is already live, so how much longer do we have to wait for Glamsterdam? --- Both blob and pool again, Ethereum's update speed really is fast.

40% space increase, now blob can finally breathe a sigh of relief --- Both blobs and sharding, these developers are really pushing hard --- Fusaka is now live, which means Glamsterdam isn't far off. Looking forward to it --- Deadline is February 5th? Need to quickly brainstorm the proposals in hand --- Sparse blob pools sound high-end, but the real question is how much gas can actually be saved --- Not just a 40% increase, when will transaction fees truly be cut down --- Hegota window is open, and there's new work to do haha --- Blob upgrades are coming one after another, Ethereum is really fighting hard on scalability --- This 40% improvement, not too much to say, not too little either --- Just optimizing blobs alone, what's the use? It still depends on whether the market will buy it

Blob has been optimized again and again, it's almost becoming Louise. By the way, how is the 40% improvement calculated?

Blob needs optimization again, this speed is impressive, a 40% increase directly taking off --- Glamsterdam is back, feels like the upgrade never ends, but with blob so competitive, I still believe in it --- Sparse blob pool sounds awesome, how exactly can it be used, can ordinary people feel the difference --- Fusaka is already on mainnet and still discussing candidates, the development team's efficiency is really stable --- Wait, is the deadline February 5th? Then I need to quickly come up with a proposal haha --- A 40% increase is quite impressive, but don’t just rise without any change like last time --- Optimizing the blob pool is a good thing, but how did they come up with the name Glamsterdam, whoever did it had a good idea --- Another EIP and a hard fork, Ethereum development stories never end --- Scaling, scaling, only when it truly reduces gas fees to be affordable is real skill

blob is expanding again, how long can it last this time... --- Glamsterdam is here, with a bunch of parameter tweaks again. Can we really feel the gas fee decrease? --- A 40% increase sounds good, but I only care about when it will be cheap enough to use. --- EIP-8070 Sparse Blob Pool, this name is quite Web3, haha. --- Two upgrades proceeding simultaneously, developers are really competitive. --- Another parameter change? The frequency on Ethereum is a bit outrageous. --- Blob transaction block space increase, in simple terms, it's still optimizing what's already there. --- Hegota's proposal window is open, various experts are starting to get creative. --- Expansion is never-ending, when will it be fully resolved? --- Sparse blob pools sound like a technical optimization, but can ordinary users feel it?

Blob, is it going to be optimized again? This 40% improvement is really quite impressive. Fusaka's move this time is directly at full throttle, but the expansion needs to be continuously followed up. It feels like the Ethereum development team is now just an upgrade manufacturing machine, one after another... The February 5th deadline is a bit tight, brothers with ideas need to act quickly. Sparse Blob pools sound quite technical; how much cheaper can the gas really be?
