The victim immediately contacted the police after being freed, and the local criminal investigation department has launched an investigation. Data from security company Casa's Chief Technology Officer Jameson Lopp shows that last year, over 70 physical threats known as "wrench attacks"—acts of physically threatening to obtain crypto assets—were recorded worldwide, with France becoming a hotspot for crypto crime in Europe, reporting 14 related incidents.
