Jollibee Group recently achieved a significant milestone by obtaining an MSCI ESG rating of BBB, an international recognition that marks their serious evolution in managing environmental, social, and corporate governance risks and opportunities on a global level. This rating is not just a number—it reflects a substantial transformation in how Southeast Asia’s largest restaurant group operates.
What Does the MSCI BBB Rating Mean?
The MSCI ESG rating is developed by the global financial analytics firm MSCI and serves as a benchmark to measure a company’s performance in managing financially relevant ESG factors compared to industry peers. The rating scale ranges from CCC (lowest) to AAA (highest). By achieving BBB, Jollibee Group demonstrates a solid position in their commitment to long-term business sustainability.
“This achievement is the result of our global team’s collective dedication to driving measurable ESG impact and implementing international best practices,” said Pepot Miñana, Chief Sustainability Officer of Jollibee Group. He added that sustainability is viewed as an ongoing process that requires continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation to build a more sustainable future while continuing to spread joy.
Sustainability Pillars: From Food to Planet
This achievement is certified within the “Joy for Tomorrow” sustainability agenda built on three main pillars—Food, People, and Planet—aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In the Food Sector: Jollibee has conducted over 11,788 food safety, hygiene, and condition audits across their outlets. Their Net Promoter Score (NPS) reached 93, far surpassing the industry benchmark of only 50. This demonstrates their commitment to high-quality standards that truly resonate with customers.
People Dimension: The group has received the Gallup Great Workplace Award for the third time, indicating a strong workplace culture. They also partnered with local government units to recruit 400 senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Their supply chain inclusion involves 1,237 small farmers directly supplying Jollibee. Additional recognition comes from the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) and the 1-Gold Arrow certification.
Commitment to the Planet: At their manufacturing facilities in the Philippines, Jollibee has installed 16,800 solar panels generating 9.1 megawatts of clean energy. They also achieved a 62% diversion of waste from landfills in their manufacturing operations, and in 2024, they will plant 21,500 mangrove seedlings.
Impressive Industry Recognition
Leadership in sustainability is reflected in various international awards. Jollibee Group ranked at the top among all Filipino brands in the Sustainability Perception Index 2025 and was also listed among the top global restaurant brands by Brand Finance. They received the 3G Excellence in Sustainability Reporting Award in June and the Bronze Award at the Asian Sustainability Reporting Awards in October—both validating how they communicate and execute their sustainability vision.
These achievements reaffirm Jollibee Group’s commitment to creating long-term impact in their operations and communities they serve, proving that sustainability is not just a slogan but a measurable and sustainable business strategy.
