Wait a minute, I just saw a number that almost scared me—$23.7 billion?😱 This is the largest options expiration in Bitcoin history, happening today at 4 PM!
Honestly, I’m still trying to understand what options are; it sounds pretty complicated. But from the news, it looks like 300,000 BTC options contracts are expiring, plus a total of $28.5 billion in ETH options, doubling compared to the same period last year... What does this mean?
Everyone says that after the expiration, market volatility will increase, and there might be a "one-sided trend acceleration," which sounds a bit scary😅. I’ve read some analyses suggesting that after such an "epic" expiration event, the market could move very violently, but no one seems to be able to say whether it will go up or down.
Right now, I’m in a state where I’m both eager to see what will happen and a bit nervous about how to respond. I want to ask everyone, for beginners, is there anything special to pay attention to before and after such a big event? Should I reduce my positions or do something else? Or is it okay to just watch quietly and be a bystander😂?
It would be great if someone could explain in simple terms how options expiration actually affects small retail investors!
