French regulatory authority: As the EU licensing application deadline approaches, some crypto companies have yet to respond
CoinVoice has learned that, according to Reuters, the French market regulator warned on Tuesday that as the transition period for the new EU crypto regulation MiCA is set to end on June 30 of this year, approximately 90 registered crypto companies operating in France without a MiCA license still have nearly one-third of them that have not yet disclosed their plans to the regulatory authorities. Stephane Pontoizeau, Executive Director of the AMF’s Market Intermediaries and Infrastructure Supervision Department, stated that as of now, 30% of the companies have applied for a license, 40% have decided not to apply, and the remaining 30% have neither informed their plans nor responded to inquiries from the regulators. This situation has raised concerns.
According to the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), companies that are not authorized under MiCA are required to implement an “orderly wind-down plan” before the transition period ends. Previously, Coinbase, Circle, Revolut, and others have obtained MiCA licenses.
