Google released the heavyweight feature "Personal Intelligence" for its AI assistant Gemini in mid-January. The core logic of this update is straightforward—AI not only needs to understand the world but also understand you.
How does it do this? Gemini will be able to connect multiple service ecosystems such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search. With your authorization, it can mine information from personal data, perform reasoning, and ultimately provide suggestions that truly fit your life scenarios. This feature has already launched as a beta in the United States, currently limited to some paid users for testing, and will gradually be opened to other countries and free users in the future.
**Why is this update attracting attention?** Many users have long complained that AI responses are often generic and formulaic. The emergence of Personal Intelligence aims to solve this pain point—making AI understand your specific needs and life background, rather than bluntly throwing out universal answers.
It is worth noting that Google has put considerable effort into privacy issues. This feature is turned off by default, and users need to actively enable it; you can choose which applications to connect; and you can interrupt or revoke authorization at any time. The entire logical framework follows the "privacy first" principle, and the setup process is relatively simple and transparent—this should be a positive signal for Web3 community users who are accustomed to prioritizing data security.
Personal Intelligence mainly relies on two major capabilities: cross-source reasoning (judging by integrating data from multiple services) and precise information retrieval (quickly locating key content from vast personal data). This multi-dimensional AI interaction approach indicates that we are one step closer to a truly intelligent assistant.
