Techub News reports that, according to Decrypt, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is urging New York State legislation to classify unlicensed crypto businesses as criminal offenses and to enforce mandatory licensing and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements for cryptocurrency companies to address money laundering and organized crime risks. Bragg specifically mentioned unlicensed crypto ATMs and other channels, stating they may provide a more convenient "anonymous exchange" pathway for criminal funds, and indicated that there are still gaps in enforcement authority and tools under the current legal framework.
