CLP to Increase Fuel Surcharge Next Month; HK Electric: Upward Pressure if War Continues or Worsens

CLP announced that starting April 1, the fuel adjustment charge will increase from 39.2 cents per kWh in March to 39.8 cents per kWh, marking the first increase since January last year.

The increase in CLP’s fuel adjustment fee is due to fluctuations in natural gas prices. Along with the basic electricity charge, the net electricity cost in April will be 141 cents per kWh.

HK Electric stated that due to a lag in the mechanism, the situation depends on developments in the coming weeks or months; if the war continues or worsens, there will inevitably be upward pressure on future fuel adjustment charges.
