A UK review report on foreign political interference has recommended setting an annual cap on overseas donations to British political parties at between £100,000 and £300,000, and has called for a suspension on accepting cryptocurrency donations pending further regulation. Following the report's release, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a suspension on accepting cryptocurrency donations. The proposed donation cap would have a significant impact on political parties such as Reform UK, which received £12 million in donations last year from a Thai investor with a long history of cryptocurrency investment.
