CATL Phase 2 Project Breaks Ground, Expected to Achieve Production in July and Double Output Value

Recently, Chengdu Xinjin Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. has launched the construction of its second phase project, which is expected to be commissioned and put into operation in July this year. After commissioning, it is expected to add an annual output value of 5 billion yuan and create over 1,000 jobs.
Xinjin Times has been rooted in Chengdu for five years. By 2025, the company will rank among the top in the group in core manufacturing competitiveness such as product yield, manufacturing costs, per capita efficiency, and product quality. In terms of economic indicators, by 2025, Xinjin Times will achieve 100% annual capacity utilization and industrial output value exceeding 4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14%.
Project Background and Significance:
Industry Clustering: As one of Ningde Times’ core production bases, a global leader in power batteries, the expansion of the Xinjin Times project will further strengthen Chengdu’s and Sichuan’s core position in the lithium battery industry chain, attracting more upstream and downstream enterprises to gather and forming a strong industrial cluster effect.
Economic Boost: Once fully operational, the project will not only bring considerable annual output value and tax revenue but also provide a large number of high-quality jobs, significantly driving local economic growth.
Regional Development: This aligns with the strategic direction of building a green economic industrial belt in the “Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle” and is an important achievement for Chengdu to strengthen advanced manufacturing support and promote industry “building circles and strengthening chains.”
Chengdu Xinjin Times New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Ningde Times, signed and settled in Chengdu Xinjing in February 2021. It officially began production in October of the same year, with products covering major global energy storage markets including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and South Korea. In August 2023, Xinjin Times officially received the PAS2060 carbon neutrality certification issued by the globally renowned certification body SGS, becoming Ningde Times’ fourth zero-carbon factory.

The standard will regulate core process parameters such as particle size distribution and secondary sintering, clarify density targets, promote increasing active material content within the same volume, reduce performance fluctuations caused by process differences, and improve mass production yield.
By 2025, high-voltage dense lithium iron phosphate technology (4th-5th generation lithium iron phosphate technology) is at the forefront of explosive growth, with market enthusiasm high. High-voltage dense lithium iron phosphate is gradually becoming the mainstream in the lithium iron phosphate material market. The reason: ultra-fast charging batteries have an urgent need for higher-density lithium iron phosphate materials, which are priced 2,000-3,000 yuan higher per ton than traditional lithium iron phosphate.
Managed by the China Electronic Materials Industry Association and organized by the Battery Materials Branch of the China Electronic Materials Industry Association, the “High-Pressure Dense Lithium Iron Phosphate Materials” standard is now seeking industry participation for drafting (collaborating) units, aiming to complete the standard development as soon as possible with high quality, jointly promoting industry development. Scope of the standard: This standard specifies terms and definitions, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, markings, packaging, transportation, and other contents for high-pressure dense lithium iron phosphate materials.
Significance of Standard Development: The standard will regulate core process parameters such as particle size distribution and secondary sintering, clarify density targets (e.g., ** g/cm³), promote increasing active material content within the same volume, reduce performance fluctuations caused by process differences, and improve mass production yield. It will promote the upgrading of advanced industry processes, support fast-charging and ultra-long cycle requirements, enhance safety and reliability, and reduce battery cell manufacturing costs. The first standard review meeting was successfully held on March 17.
