Swan Bitcoin has filed a motion in New York federal court seeking to subpoena Cantor Fitzgerald and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick for documents and testimony. The motion is part of Swan's offshore legal proceedings against a director appointed by Tether to their joint venture 2040 Energy. Swan alleges a 2024 conspiracy involving mass employee resignations and the sale of assets to a Tether subsidiary at undervalued prices. Filed documents include records claiming that Lutnick, while a private citizen, told Swan's CEO that he had worked to block Congress from passing stablecoin legislation and was "working full-time for Tether."
