South Africa issues final anti-dumping ruling on Chinese-related steel products

On March 20, 2026, the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) (on behalf of the Southern African Customs Union—SACU, which comprises South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, and Eswatini) issued an announcement making a positive final anti-dumping ruling on steel sections (U-sections, I-sections, and H-sections of Iron or Non-alloy Steel) originating in or imported from China and Thailand. The specific duty rates are: for U-shaped steel, I-shaped steel, H-shaped steel, and other angle-, shape-, and cross-section steel originating in or imported from China, the anti-dumping duty rate is 74.98% (ad valorem); for U-shaped steel, I-shaped steel, H-shaped steel, and other angle-, shape-, and cross-section steel originating in or imported from Thailand, the anti-dumping duty rate is 20.32% (ad valorem). The South African customs codes for the products at issue are 7216.31, 7216.32, 7216.33, and 7216.5. The dumping investigation period for this case is from April 1, 2022, to March 30, 2024.
