Wang Yi Had a Phone Call with the Pakistani Foreign Minister, Supporting Continued Mediation of the Iran Conflict
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated during a phone call with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bilawal that he supports Pakistan continuing to play a mediator role regarding the situation in Iran. China is willing to strengthen strategic communication and coordination with Pakistan, making efforts to promote peace and ceasefire, and jointly committed to regional peace and stability.
CCTV news quoted Wang Yi as saying that starting peace talks is not easy, but only by engaging in dialogue can more casualties and losses be avoided, and it is also beneficial in preventing the escalation of conflict, as well as restoring normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The report pointed out that both sides agreed to jointly promote a ceasefire and peace talks, ensure the safety of non-military targets and waterways, and support the United Nations in playing a major role.
The Pakistani Foreign Minister recently stated on the X platform that the United States and Iran are conducting indirect talks through Pakistan to convey messages, and Turkey and Egypt are also assisting in this effort.
U.S. President Trump stated on Thursday that at Iran’s request, he will suspend attacks on Iranian energy facilities for 10 days, and noted that negotiations with Iran are progressing well. However, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing comments from peace negotiation mediators, that Iran has not requested a 10-day suspension of attacks on its energy facilities and has yet to provide a final response to the 15-point plan for ending the war.
