In response to the threat that the United States and Israel may carry out ground invasion operations against Iran, Iran’s Islamic Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf made a tough statement on Friday, questioning whether the U.S. has the capability to protect U.S. troops entering Iranian territory, because even U.S. forces stationed at bases in the Middle East are unable to provide security guarantees.

In a post on social media, Qalibaf said that even American soldiers stationed at bases in the Middle East cannot be protected by the U.S. itself; the best it can do is hide them in hotels and parks. Under these circumstances, how could the U.S. possibly protect those soldiers on Iranian territory? Qalibaf called on hotels in Middle Eastern countries to refuse reservations from U.S. troops.

Before the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28, about 40,000 U.S. troops were stationed across West Asia. Since then, thousands of U.S. troops have been redeployed, some have withdrawn as far as Europe, while the rest remain in the Middle East but are no longer carrying out missions from their original bases.

Media reports say the U.S. military has set up outposts at civilian facilities
