Southern Finance 21st Century Economic Report Journalist Yang Yulai Boao Report

On March 24, the Boao Forum for Asia 2026 Annual Conference press conference and flagship report release conference was held. The “Annual Report on Sustainable Development in Asia and the World 2026” (hereinafter referred to as the “Report”) released at the meeting shows that the current global energy development pattern is rapidly evolving towards cleanliness, low carbon, and diversification. Asia plays an important role in this transition, shifting from being “the largest consumer center of traditional energy” to “the leader in clean energy development.”

During the forum, Murtaza Syed, a senior economist and head of the Ecosystem Department at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, told Southern Finance reporters that how artificial intelligence can assist sustainable development is a “very exciting new area.” The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is also actively monitoring relevant progress, focusing on how artificial intelligence and digital technology can empower infrastructure construction.

He pointed out that many inspiring practical results have emerged globally, including in China. Countries are entering a crucial phase of strengthening communication and sharing. By learning from each other’s development experiences, technology can be better utilized to promote the achievement of common goals for sustainable development.

When discussing China, Murtaza Syed believes that China has become one of the global leaders in sustainable development. China can drive technological innovation and achieve results conversion at a lower cost, which is precisely the capability the world urgently needs right now.
