On March 28, according to the website AXIOS, citing informed sources, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio stated at the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting on Friday that the war with Iran will continue for another two to four weeks. Three informed sources revealed that Rubio said at the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting that the U.S. is still communicating with Iran through intermediaries, rather than direct contact. He said it is currently unclear who exactly makes decisions in Tehran. Rubio added that two Iranian officials wish to negotiate with the U.S., but require approval from the highest leadership. According to informed sources, Rubio stated that communication difficulties exist between intermediaries and Iranian officials because the Iranian officials are afraid to use mobile phones to avoid being located and assassinated, which slows down the pace of communication. He also said that the U.S. is waiting for Iran to clarify who will represent them in possible peace negotiations. If talks are held, Vice President Vance is likely to lead the U.S. delegation.
