The Web3 social infrastructure project UXLINK fell victim to one of the biggest hacks of 2025 on September 22. Attackers drained assets worth more than $11.3 million from its multi-signature wallet, sparking panic and causing the token’s price to collapse by more than 70%.

How the hack happened According to security firms, the hackers exploited a “delegateCall” vulnerability, which allowed them to access UXLINK’s administrative multi-sig wallet. They removed the original administrators and installed their own address as the new owner, gaining full control. The attackers stole: $4.5 million in stablecoinsSignificant amounts of ETH and WBTCMore than 490 million UXLINK tokens Even more alarming, the exploit enabled them to mint about 2 billion new UXLINK tokens, which they quickly dumped across exchanges.

Moving funds and an ironic twist The stolen assets were funneled through six different wallets across decentralized exchanges (DEXs), converted into 6,732 ETH worth about $28.1 million. In a surprising twist, analysts from Odaily discovered that the hacker later became a victim themselves. After moving the stolen tokens, they fell into a phishing scheme by the notorious group Inferno Drainer, losing more than 542 million UXLINK tokens. This highlights the inherent risks in the DeFi landscape—even for thieves.

UXLINK’s swift response Within an hour of detecting the breach, UXLINK issued an emergency security alert and began working with major centralized (CEX) and decentralized (DEX) exchanges to freeze suspicious deposits. Blockchain forensics firms, including PeckShield, were brought in, and authorities were notified. Due to the ongoing unauthorized token minting, UXLINK announced an emergency token swap initiative to safeguard its users.

Token price collapse The illegal token sales, coupled with panic-driven sell-offs from the community, sent the UXLINK token price tumbling from $0.30 to just $0.09 within hours. Market capitalization shrank by nearly $70 million.

The UXLINK hack stands as one of the year’s starkest warnings for the crypto sector—not only because of the massive losses, but also for the blow to investor confidence in Web3 infrastructure projects.
