CEX urges the U.S. Department of Justice to limit state government's enforcement actions on Crypto Assets.
[CEX urges the U.S. Department of Justice to limit state governments' cryptocurrency enforcement actions] The cryptocurrency exchange CEX is escalating its conflict with state regulators. After federal regulators dismissed a case against the exchange earlier this year, CEX has written to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), requesting its intervention. In a lengthy 14-page letter sent out on Monday, CEX's Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal argued that the Department of Justice should push Congress to pass a comprehensive federal preemption bill to prevent states from taking enforcement actions against digital assets regulated by federal law. Grewal posted on social platform X, stating: "When Oregon can sue us for legally serving under federal law, it shows that something is wrong." He described the current state-level enforcement as "government overreach."
