CEX hired Trump’s eldest son’s friend to lobby the White House, paying his company $450,000 over the past month.
On October 25, Politico reported that Ches McDowell, a hunting partner of Donald Trump Jr., is becoming one of Washington's most profitable lobbyists. His company, Checkmate Government Relations, has generated $7.1 million in revenue in just the past three months, having only established an office in Washington earlier this year. According to disclosure reports, CEX hired McDowell at the end of September to lobby for financial policy issues and “administrative relief” matters in the White House and the Treasury Department. CEX paid Checkmate $450,000 for his work over the past month. However, CZ's efforts to seek a pardon have been ongoing for more than a month. As early as February of this year, just three weeks after Trump was sworn in as President of the United States, CEX and CZ himself hired well-known Crypto Assets lawyer Teresa Goody Guillén. Trump had considered appointing her as the chair of the SEC. Her law firm reported that she has received a total of $290,000 in fees from CEX and CZ to date this year. Both McDowell and Goody Guillén did not respond to requests for comments.
