With only a few hours left until the 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time deadline, on April 7, Trump issued what is, to date, the most apocalyptic warning on Truth Social, and on the same day, the U.S. military launched multiple waves of attacks on Kharg Island, an Iranian oil export hub.

“Tonight, the entire civilization will perish and can never come back again. I don’t want this to happen, but it very likely will. However, we have now completed a thorough regime change, and a different, wiser, less radical set of minds is taking the lead—perhaps some revolutionary good things may happen. Who knows? Tonight we will get the answer—one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world. The 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death will finally come to an end tonight. God bless the great Iranian people!”

U.S. military has attacked Kharg Island; Iran: “Restraint is over”
Iran’s Mehr News Agency reported that Kharg Island was hit by multiple waves of attacks on Tuesday. A U.S. official confirmed to Axios that the U.S. military has carried out attacks on military targets inside Iran. At the same time, Israel issued an advance warning to Iranian civilians to avoid taking the railways on Tuesday, suggesting that larger-scale actions may follow.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iran immediately issued a statement in tough wording: “Restraint is over.” It also warned that if the United States crosses red lines, the U.S. and its partners will face “years” of disruptions to oil and natural gas supply, and that the impact range would be “beyond that region.”
Both sides rejected a 45-day ceasefire proposal, talks hit a stalemate
The 45-day ceasefire proposal, relayed by Pakistan as a mediator, has been rejected by Iran. Iran’s official media outlet IRNA reported that Tehran demanded that the U.S. agree to a “permanent cessation of conflict,” not a temporary ceasefire; a U.S. official described Iran’s response as “extreme demands.” Trump previously also publicly said that the proposal was “significant, but not enough.”
Trump emphasized that he “does not care at all” about allegations that could involve war crimes, and once again reiterated that if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened on schedule, it will destroy Iran’s bridges and power plants. He said, “An entire country can be wiped out in a single night, and that night could be tonight.”
As of the time this article was published, with only a few hours left until the deadline, the situation is still developing rapidly.
