Don't remind me again today

#ETH巨鲸增持 $ZEC After eight years in this space, what’s truly engraved in my bones isn’t the thrill of catching a 10x coin, but the three times my own greed rubbed my face into the ground.

Let’s start with that 2017 wave. $ETH That day it surged to $3,800. I stared at my unrealized gains, telling myself, “Let’s wait a bit more—if it hits $4,000, I’ll cash out.” But the market doesn’t care about your plans; next thing I knew, it had crashed back to $3,100. I stubbornly held on, refusing to accept reality, and in the end, I only pocketed $600. It felt like I spent half a month picking up coins on the highway—exhausting work for a meager reward.

That’s when I realized: greed doesn’t help you earn more—it just makes you give back what you already had.

2021 was even harsher. $SOL It shot up from $100 all the way to $190. My hand was on the sell button, but then this voice in my head said, “Wait until $220 before you sell.” The market gave me its answer—not only did it not reach $220, it plunged below $140. After panic-selling, nearly $20,000 evaporated from my account.

Later, I understood: holding longer doesn’t automatically make you rich—it only turns you into the gambler who refuses to leave the table.

The worst was 2018. That year, “100x coin legends” were everywhere. I got swept up in the hype and went all in on altcoins. My account slid from $60,000 all the way down to just $710. Honestly, there was a month when I almost couldn’t pay rent; I’d turn off the main lights at night, only daring to check prices under a small desk lamp. Just thinking about that suffocating feeling still gives me chills.

The market never kills people on its own—it’s always the trader who keeps moving their take-profit line further and further away, keeps kicking their bottom line into the abyss. When it’s going up, you want a bit more; when it’s going down, you think you can hold out a little longer. By the time your position hits zero, you finally realize—greed is really just a slow form of suicide.

Now, I’ve more or less climbed out. What about you? Are you still repeating the cycles I went through?

That part about 710 really hit me, especially the detail about watching the charts under a small desk lamp... Thinking back now, I must have really been out of my mind back then.

That part about 710 really hit me. That scene of you checking the market under a small lamp... Brother, that’s not just a lesson, that’s blood and tears.

According to on-chain data, this wave of position changes is indeed worth studying. After sorting out the trading timeline, the periods from 2017 to 2021 clearly show a typical pattern of greedy buying at the top and getting liquidated. Interestingly, this type of account behavior occurs very frequently on-chain. Through tracking multiple addresses, we found that a large number of retail investors are repeating the same pattern of being trapped.

It made me break out in a cold sweat. That period in 2018 was truly a nightmare.

That hits too close to home. I was the same way during that 2018 wave—I went all-in on three altcoins and they went straight to zero. Even now, I get a shiver just seeing the names of those coins.

Honestly, seeing this reminds me of what happened with my SOL last year. It still gives me heart palpitations.
