Polygon developers have deployed the Madhugiri update. The upgrade is designed to increase blockchain throughput by 33% and reduce block consensus time to one second.
The hard fork introduces a new transaction type for the bridge between Ethereum and Polygon and improves gas efficiency. This mechanism prevents overloading computing power with individual "heavy" transactions. Furthermore, Madhugiri strengthens the infrastructure for working with stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets.
