XRP Ledger Foundation UNL Update
The XRP Ledger Foundation announced an updated UNL (Unique Node List) with one validator removed. The validator “data443Risk” was removed due to non-responsiveness, with a replacement validator planned for a future update.
Understanding UNL
A Unique Node List (UNL) is a server’s list of validators that it trusts not to collude. Every XRP Ledger server is configured with a UNL, which determines which validation votes it listens to and which votes it discards during the consensus process.
To prevent forking, servers in the XRP Ledger must be configured with UNLs that have significant overlap with one another. The XRP Ledger uses a recommended validator list system to ensure diverse and reliable validators. Currently, the default configuration uses two lists: one published by the XRP Ledger Foundation and one published by Ripple.
Recent XRP Ecosystem Developments
Cross-Chain Integration: XRP has arrived on Solana through a bridge partnership, with Hex Trust and Layer Zero issuing wXRP, a Solana DeFi-ready token redeemable 1:1 for XRP on the XRP Ledger.
Spot ETF Approval: The 21Shares XRP ETF began trading on CBOE under ticker TOXR, marking the fifth spot XRP product to receive exchange approval.
DeFi Milestone: XRP holders have executed over one million FXRP actions on Flare.
Banking Partnership: Ripple announced a partnership with AMINA Bank to support real-time cross-border payments using Ripple Payments. AMINA Bank is now the first European bank to use Ripple’s licensed end-to-end payments solution.
Technical Release: XRPL Version 3.0.0 is now available, featuring several core ledger improvements and fix amendments, including a Token Escrow fix that addresses a bug from the original amendment.
