Alert! Whale Multi-Signature Wallet Hacked, $27.3 Million Assets Stolen

Abstract generation in progress

【Blockchain Rhythm】On December 18th, a major stolen coin incident raised alarms. A whale user’s multi-signature wallet was hacked due to private key leakage, resulting in a direct loss of approximately $27.3 million.

The severity of the situation is ongoing. The hacker quickly acted and has laundered $12.6 million (equivalent to 4,100 ETH) through mixing services, while still holding about $2 million in liquid assets. Worse still, the thief now has full control of the multi-signature wallet.

The source of these funds is worth noting. The victim deposited $25 million worth of ETH as collateral on Aave and borrowed 12.3 million DAI. Now, control of these assets has shifted to the hacker, which not only threatens Aave’s risk management but also exposes security vulnerabilities that even large holders find difficult to fully avoid.

AAVE1.48%

On-chain data shows that the timing of the private key leak is crucial. I am monitoring the abnormal transfer patterns of this wallet. From the code, it seems that there may be design flaws in the multi-signature logic. The contract patches deployed late at night cannot defend against this level of attack. It is worth noting the hacker's choice of money laundering routing, which unsurprisingly used the most common crypto tumbler services. Aave's risk model needs to be re-evaluated. The misappropriation of 25 million USD ETH is not just an isolated case. Interestingly, the hacker did not rush to dump, indicating possible organizational support behind the scenes. From my observations, the methods used in this operation are quite professional. Based on past experience, the real problem lies in the key management process of the multi-signature wallet. Even hardware wallets cannot save those overconfident large investors.

nah this is exactly why i've been screaming about multisig operational security for years... 27M gone because someone got lazy with key management. classic case of thinking you're too big to get rekt, then boom—systemic risk bleeding into the protocol layer.

27.3 million is gone just like that, multi-signature wallets are no longer safe—how to play? It's really terrifying; private keys can't have any mistakes. Mixing coins and money laundering—these hackers are incredibly efficient. Major accounts have also been hit; this time Aave is in trouble. Looks like I need to check my cold wallet again... Multi-signature might not save it either; you have to be extremely cautious. ETH evaporated overnight—this risk is no joke. The hacker's speed—laundering 12.6 million seconds worth of assets—truly frightening.

Multi-signature wallets can all be compromised; it's still safest to keep your private keys yourself. --- 27.3 million dollars lost, that must be heartbreaking... Is money laundering this smooth? --- Is Aave so risky? Even big investors can't handle it... --- Private key leaks are unavoidable; no matter how cautious you are, it's useless. --- 4100 ETH just disappeared, that's outrageous. --- No wonder everyone says there's no absolute security on the blockchain; even big investors have fallen. --- Do mixing services have to be so fast... tracking is impossible. --- If this were traditional finance, they would have frozen the accounts long ago. --- $12.6 million has already been laundered; what's the chance of catching them? --- It seems multi-signature can't save you; you still have to rely on yourself. --- Aave needs to adjust its risk control next; this is too intense.

27.3 million USD just gone like that, unbelievable... Multi-signature isn't even foolproof Once the private key is leaked, there's really no way to recover; this is the cost of self-custody Aave's recent risk exposure is huge; even big players can't handle it Multi-signature wallets also need to guard against insiders; who would have thought 12.6 million just washed, hackers' techniques are really slick

My goodness, $27.3 million just vanished? Multi-signature can't even prevent private key leaks No wonder I heard that big investors have had issues recently; at this level, it's almost impossible to prevent money laundering Aave must be so anxious, with flash loans not settling down and this happening again

27 million USD lost, how heartbreaking is that? Even multi-signature setups can be compromised. That's why I always say not to put all your eggs in one basket. I'm starting to lose confidence in the Aave lending system too. Private key leaks are truly a nightmare. Even the biggest whales can't escape hackers. By the way, these hackers are really efficient at laundering coins. 12.6 million USD just washed away, how are we retail investors supposed to play? Big whales aren't safe either, so I, a small fry, have to be extra cautious.

Multi-signature wallets can all be hacked; how can we small investors survive? This is the real nightmare—losing 27.3 million is just gone. Damn, can't even protect the private keys of big whales? This security is truly incredible. Mixing services are so powerful; what's the point of on-chain transparency anymore? Aave needs to seriously check its risk control; otherwise, it's even more frightening. Honestly, after seeing this, I don't dare to keep coins anymore. How efficient must hackers be to make money laundering so smooth? Are multi-signature wallets just an illusion? Then my self-managed wallet is hopeless too. 27.3 million USD—that must hurt a lot... How can we prevent this, everyone? The ratio is a bit outrageous.
