The sudden drop in Taproot adoption: Will quantum risk really hinder Bitcoin upgrades?

【Crypto World】Recently, a hot topic has been stirring up the community—how big is the threat of quantum computing to Bitcoin’s Taproot?

Analyst Willy Woo candidly stated: This is quite serious. He pointed out that from last year to now, the usage rate of Taproot has dropped from 42% to 20%, a significant decline. Woo believes that even if this quantum risk is only at the “perception” level, it is enough to scare off many users from adopting Taproot.

However, there are differing opinions. Big players like Michael Saylor believe that the Bitcoin network will take proactive steps by upgrading to enhance its resistance to quantum attacks. Their logic is: technology will always evolve.

But security expert Jameson Lopp has long warned that Taproot addresses do have vulnerabilities in the face of quantum attacks. This is not baseless; it is a genuine concern based on technical analysis.

So the current situation is: on one side are the optimists for technological upgrades, and on the other side are the conservatives aware of risks. The future of Taproot may still depend on how market confidence is restored.

To be honest, the quantum risk has been somewhat exaggerated, but market confidence is indeed fleeing.

Has the Taproot adoption rate been cut in half? Haha, the Bitcoin community is scaring itself again. The quantum risk thing isn't even fully understood yet, and they're already fleeing?

Laughing out loud, still talking about quantum risk again, I'm already tired of hearing about it since last year --- Taproot dropping to 20% shows that this panic marketing still has some power --- Saylor's "technology will save us" approach is really optimistic. Why doesn't anyone ask when the upgrade will happen? --- When Lopp speaks out, it’s serious; this guy doesn’t mess around --- Perceived risk can sometimes kill a feature more than actual risk, and that’s the most painful part --- 50% of people don’t use Taproot because they’re afraid of quantum, the other 50% probably don’t even know how to use it --- If there was a real quantum threat, why are big players still buying and hoarding? Isn’t that the answer? --- Instead of worrying about quantum, it’s better to figure out how you ended up putting your coins on exchanges again --- Perceived panic definitely drags down adoption rate, Woo is right about that --- Bitcoin has been around for over ten years without any technical issues, but now it’s scared by virtual risks, which is a bit embarrassing

Haha, it's really just psychological effect. Dropping from 42% to 20% is so scary. The decline in Taproot usage is probably mostly due to transaction fees, not quantum panic. Saylor's remarks can be ignored; quantum threats are still ten years away. Perceived risks can scare away so many people; the market is really fragile. We should listen to Lopp, but is panicking now a bit too early? Here comes another wave of "the sky is falling" rhetoric; this circle relies on panic to play for keeps. Instead of worrying about quantum, it's better to worry about your private key management.

To be honest, seeing the number drop from 42% to 20% is a bit scary... Perceived risk is already quite mysterious, making people anxious. I'm a bit tired of Saylor's argument that "technology will always evolve," isn't that just gambling on the future? Lopp's straightforward words make it clear that quantum threats are definitely not unfounded. Quantum hasn't even arrived yet, and half the people are already scared away—this is just ridiculous.

It should be pointed out that the collapse of Taproot adoption rate is not fundamentally due to quantum risk itself, but to the collective unconscious of the market—that's why I keep saying perception is reality. Technical arguments are all虚假的.

In other words, people are panicking. The drop from 42% to 20% is indeed frightening. --- Saylor is starting to make promises again. Technological evolution is one thing, but we can't get past the quantum hurdle right now. --- Lopp's warning shouldn't be ignored. This isn't FUD; it's a real vulnerability. --- Perceiving risk and halving adoption rates? That's ridiculous. Is our circle only this much resilience? --- Wait, can Taproot really not withstand quantum attacks? Then I need to reconsider wallet migration. --- Another round of confidence crisis. When will Bitcoin finally fully resolve this mental issue? --- Honestly, Woo is right. The psychological suggestion can sometimes be more damaging than real threats.
