On December 20, according to Ember monitoring, a certain whale/organization withdrew 50 million USDT from CEX 10 hours ago, then tested a transfer of 50 USDT to the address they planned to send to. The phishing actor generated an address with the first and last three digits the same and transferred 0.005 USDT to it. Then, when the whale officially transferred the funds or directly copied the address from the recent transaction record, all 50 million USDT were transferred into the phishing actor’s generated similar address. The phishing actor quickly exchanged these 50 million USDT for DAI (to prevent freezing), then bought all 16,624 ETH with it. These ETH were then completely washed through Tornado.
