An investor lost nearly $50 million as a result of an attack using a poisoned address.
The user sent a test $50 USDT to their wallet, after which the scammer performed address poisoning—creating an address with the same first and last characters.
The victim copied the address from the transaction history, checking only the beginning and end, and sent the remaining $49,999,950 USDT directly to the scammer.
"This is one of the largest cases of blockchain fraud we've seen in recent times," commented Web3 Antivirus specialists.
