ZCASH LOSES CORE DEVELOPMENT TEAM DUE TO GOVERNANCE CRISIS
🔹 All of Electric Coin Company (ECC), the core development team of Zcash, has collectively left after accusing the Bootstrap governance organization of creating a working environment that forced them to resign, known as constructive discharge under US labor law.
🔹 Bootstrap does not directly invest in Zcash but plays a role in managing and allocating funds within the ecosystem, mainly from block rewards and development funds, then allocating budgets for ECC operations.
🔹 Former CEO Josh Swihart stated that Bootstrap's leadership has deviated from Zcash's original mission, making it impossible for the team to continue working transparently and ethically.
🔹 The former ECC team plans to establish a new company to continue pursuing the goal of building censorship-resistant privacy coins, while affirming that the Zcash protocol remains unaffected technically and that there is no clear roadmap yet for supporting Zcash or issuing new tokens.
🔹 Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox confirmed that the dispute is solely related to governance; Zcash remains open-source, secure, and operational as usual.
🔹 Amidst the turmoil, the price of ZEC has dropped about 18 percent since the beginning of 2026, despite previously increasing over 800 percent in 2025 due to demand for privacy assets.
