Trump has confirmed the candidate for Federal Reserve Chair but has not disclosed the specific person

U.S. President Trump told The New York Times in an interview that he has decided on a nominee for the next Federal Reserve Chair. He said, “I have made a decision, but I haven't talked to anyone yet.” When asked about his Chief Economic Advisor Hasset, Trump said “I don't want to say,” but added that Hasset is “definitely one of the people I like.”

Regardless of who Trump chooses, the next Federal Reserve Chair will take over an institution that is at a critical juncture, currently at the center of an unprecedented aggressive pressure campaign initiated by the President to significantly lower interest rates.

Prediction market Kalshi shows that the probability of Kevin Wash being elected Federal Reserve Chair is currently 41%, and Kevin Hasset is at 38%.
