This proposal has good intentions, but upon closer inspection, it is a loss for OP token holders and the entire Optimism ecosystem.

Let's start with the buyback mechanism. The problem is that OP currently relies too heavily on token issuance to support business development, ecosystem incentives, and various funding needs. Once a buyback is initiated, the funds originally allocated for these areas are squeezed out, inevitably reducing the flexibility of ecosystem development. Especially in a highly competitive Web3 environment, a decrease in ecosystem incentives could have a greater impact on project attractiveness than expected.

Ultimately, this proposal is somewhat counterproductive — it may seem beneficial for the token price in the short term, but it sacrifices the potential for long-term ecosystem growth. OP token holders need not just short-term price action, but a healthy and sustainable ecosystem.

Once again, those seemingly clever but actually self-sabotaging moves... Buying back tokens can pump the price? Wake up, if the ecosystem is gone, everything is pointless.

Buybacks, to put it simply, are like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs—short-term price action gives a quick thrill, but what happens when the ecosystem cools down? Where does OP get the spare funds to do buybacks now? Isn't it just reallocating from incentives? Arbitrum is desperately throwing money to attract projects, while we hold back and hesitate, waiting to be beaten.

Buybacks, to put it simply, are like drinking poison to quench thirst. Now, in order to pump the market, they've consumed all the ecosystem's resources. How will they play it later?

In plain terms, this is like drinking poison to quench thirst—trading the future for today's gains... Buybacks might fool people in the short term, but they really harm the ecosystem. If ecosystem incentives shrink, everything becomes pointless. With Web3 competition so fierce right now, those hoping for price action probably haven't realized the true cost.

yo this is just copium for price action tho... cutting emission for buybacks while ecosystem still bleeding? that's how you end up liquidated long term ngl

Buybacks, to put it simply, are like drinking poison to quench thirst—short-term price boosts but long-term pitfalls. Honestly, weakening ecological incentives hurts more than a price rally. The ecosystem is OP's core competitiveness; sacrificing incentives for price action isn't cost-effective. Lowering incentives in such a competitive track? Probably suicidal. A quick price spike is nice, but an ecosystem that cools off is truly painful. Instead of buybacks, resources should be invested in developers and project teams. Short-term benefits can't hide long-term weakness, really. OP needs sustainable revenue-generating capabilities, not just quick fixes. Honestly, this proposal is just to rescue the market, with no real regard for the ecosystem's survival.

I think rushing into buybacks is a bit hasty; cutting costs on ecosystem development is the real loss. Short-term price rebounds, so what? Without ecosystem support, it’s still impossible to escape the death spiral. OP, this game depends on the long term. Currently, squeezing the incentive budget really feels like shooting oneself in the foot.

Is this another self-deceiving proposal? Short-term pump, long-term pit. We can't keep fooling ourselves like this. The bear market has driven people to numbness, but clarity is more valuable than comfort. The OP ecosystem is the foundation of our faith. This wave is actually teaching us what sacrifice means. Buying back tokens feels good temporarily, but the ecosystem dies forever. Why bother? Once you see through it, even Bitcoin going to zero can't shake my faith in ecosystem development. That's true cycle crossing. What OP needs most now isn't price action, but a sustainable ecosystem. Understand this, and you've already won more than half the battle.

That's right, buybacks are like drinking poison to quench thirst. When ecological incentives are cut, will new projects still come? --- This set of logic issues is too big; short-term market support ruins the long-term prospects. --- People get happy when prices go up, but the ecosystem withers away. How can OP turn things around? --- The phrase "confusing the means with the ends" is used well here. Now rushing to buy back is like slow suicide. --- Without incentives, developers leave for other chains. How do you settle this account? --- Seemingly good for the price, but in reality, it's digging a hole and burying oneself.
