Developers often say that building applications on privacy-focused public chains is completely different from traditional smart contract platforms. Take Dusk as an example; the biggest difference is that it doesn't treat privacy as an addition but uses privacy as the default configuration from the very beginning. This directly rewrites the entire application architecture.

From the toolchain perspective, the development toolkit provided by Dusk includes dedicated IDE plugins and simulation environment frameworks. The core design philosophy is to allow developers to reveal contract logic layer by layer without exposing the entire codebase at once. This progressive debugging approach is actually more aligned with the real iterative process of financial applications.

But frankly, the most challenging part to get started with is understanding the zero-knowledge proof design patterns. Developers need to plan ahead: which parts of the contract should be permanently encrypted, which can be revealed to specific entities under certain scenarios, and how to generate the corresponding proofs. This requires changing traditional coding habits.

Interestingly, a team has already built a privacy AMM on top of this, and their feedback is: implementing "hidden liquidity ranges" on this chain is actually simpler than on public chains. The reason is straightforward—privacy is a native feature rather than an afterthought. This allows them to focus their energy on the trading logic itself.

From the ecosystem perspective, the Grant incentive program particularly encourages two directions: one is to privatize traditional financial instruments, and the other is to design entirely new financial primitives that can only be realized with privacy. For early participants, this is both a technical challenge and an ecosystem dividend.
