Intelligence Analysis Platform Arkham has recently made a major move—starting from January 11th, it will cease support for the three Layer 2 networks Linea, Manta, and Blast. Once the news broke, industry discussions erupted.

According to a statement from Arkham's official X account, this adjustment stems from regular chain relevance assessments. They periodically review metrics such as user activity and ecosystem importance for each chain to decide whether to continue providing intelligence support. Although the official did not explicitly list specific underperforming criteria, discussions in the comment section generally suggest that these three chains may have issues like low activity and limited user attention, making maintenance costs less justifiable.

It is noteworthy that Arkham's layoffs earlier this year mainly targeted L2-related positions, and the announcement to withdraw support was densely released just days before the Lunar New Year. This pace hints at a trend: the platform is optimizing its ecosystem and gradually cleaning up chains with declining relevance.

This is the first time in Arkham's history that such a move has occurred. There were no similar removals throughout last year, indicating that this action indeed reflects certain changes in the market environment. For Linea (as an Ethereum L2), Manta, and Blast, losing support from a mainstream intelligence platform may impact market perception. It also serves as a reminder to other L2 projects: having technology and funding alone is not enough; user activity and ecosystem development are equally critical.
LINEA-3,54%
MANTA-3,39%
BLAST-6,56%

ngl, arkham culling three L2s at once screams desperation more than optimization tbh... watched the gwei patterns during this announcement and smells like they're hemorrhaging maintenance costs fr fr

Alright, Arkham has directly taken action, and this move is indeed fierce. By the way, are Linea, Manta, and Blast really that inactive? It seems that layoffs and withdrawing support are part of the package, just cost optimization. For L2 to succeed, it still depends on the ecosystem; just raising funds isn't enough.
