Want to participate in DUSK network staking? The process isn't complicated, but details are key.
The core logic is straightforward: rent cloud server → deploy node software → import wallet → stake DUSK tokens → stay online to earn block rewards. It sounds simple, but execution requires attention.
**Level 1: Money and Hardware**
Regarding funds, 1000 tokens is the theoretical starting point, but it's safer to prepare around 1100 tokens—since you need to reserve some for Gas fees. At the current price of $0.053, the total cost is roughly over $60. Buying tokens is straightforward; just purchase on a major exchange and withdraw to the mainnet.
Never use your home computer for servers. DUSK network requires nodes to be online 24/7; going offline results in penalties—this is serious. Rent a server from an overseas cloud provider with the following specs: 2-core CPU, 4GB RAM, 50GB SSD, Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04. Monthly cost is about $5 to $10, which isn't too expensive.
Tools are also simple. Use an SSH client to connect to the server—Windows users can use Putty or Xshell; Mac users can just open the terminal.
**Level 2: Environment Setup**
After logging into the VPS, the first step is to update system components to avoid bugs later. The basic operation is to run update commands to keep the system in good shape. Then, follow the steps to deploy the official node software, import the wallet, and set staking parameters—while the process isn't complicated, each step must be done carefully, especially wallet import and parameter configuration.
Once done, just wait for the daily block rewards to be credited.

After all that, I finally understand. Basically, it's spending 60 bucks to buy coins, then spending a few more dollars to rent a server, and praying that it doesn't disconnect... Is this profit really worth the hassle?

Starting from 1000 coins? Bro, that price has long been outdated. Now you need 1500+ to be safe.
Offline penalties apply, being online 24 hours a day really consumes electricity. How much do you need to earn in a month to break even?
Save on Gas fees whenever possible; don't give it away to the network for free.
The most important thing is the parameter configuration. I almost lost everything on my first try because of this.
To put it simply, there are still some barriers, especially for beginners who might easily make mistakes.

Staking Dusk seems simple, but in reality, going offline even once results in penalties. That's the most frustrating part; the home network can't handle it at all.

Wait, starting from $60 to stake DUSK? That sounds like a huge deficit. How high does the yield have to be to break even...
