Ever notice how some of the biggest players in the crypto and AI space built their fortunes through unconventional paths? Take successful tech entrepreneurs—many accumulated $20-30 billion in wealth without traditional academic credentials being the decisive factor. A PhD can open doors, sure, but it's far from the only path to serious success. The real game-changers? They often rely on vision, timing, execution, and resilience. Education matters, no doubt—but it's what you build with it that counts. In Web3 and beyond, we're seeing proof daily that hustle and innovation can outweigh a fancy degree. The barrier isn't education itself; it's mindset.

nah actually the correlation between phd credentialing and wealth accumulation in crypto is way weaker than this frames it. statistically speaking, given the historical data on founder backgrounds, timing & network effects trump credentials by like 80-90% variance...

ngl the timing thing hits different after what happened in '22... vision and execution mean nothing if your health factor drops to 0.8 lmao

Nah, I've heard this kind of explanation too many times. The key is that you need to have the initial capital to get started.

To be honest, I've heard this kind of rhetoric quite a bit... but it does hit the mark. Web3, which grew organically, indeed has more self-made players compared to those riding on the coattails of prestigious universities. There are plenty of people who succeed through vision and timing. However, don't romanticize it too much; diplomas and mindset are actually two different things. The real difference is whether you can seize opportunities.

NGL, I've heard this kind of talk a bit too much, but it does make sense. Sometimes, rather than education level, it's about whether you can seize the opportunity.

To put it simply, this is still the same old story... However, indeed, many people who grow wildly in Web3 don't have much educational baggage, and are actually even more aggressive.
