What exactly is the key to short-term trading? Many people think it's speed and luck, but they're all wrong. The core competitiveness boils down to two words: comprehension and self-discipline.

Once the market shows a trend, things are actually very simple—just follow the direction. But as soon as the market enters a consolidation phase, the death trap for most accounts begins. Do you know? Many people's losses stem from a single habit: can't resist placing orders.

They treat sideways movement as an opportunity, mistake market noise for trading signals, and the more chaotic the market, the itchier their hands become. The result is that the more actively they trade, the faster their accounts lose. This isn't the market tricking you; frankly, you're just fighting against it.

I've also experienced several major drawdowns. The only rule that has kept me alive until now is: if I can't see the clear direction, I don't move. It sounds simple, but it's really hard to do. Because before a trend appears, every order you place is essentially a gamble. But once the trend is clear, trading becomes much easier.

The market never rushes you to enter; it only punishes those who act recklessly. Moving slowly is really okay—what's most dangerous is chaos. When the rhythm becomes clear and the direction is obvious, you'll find that making money isn't that complicated.

At its core, trading isn't about who is faster, but about who is steadier and who can wait. I don't talk about get-rich-quick myths; I only share what can help people stay at the table for the long haul. Want to go further? The choice is entirely in your hands.

Well said, that's the point. I used to be impulsive, wanting to trade whenever I saw the market move, and only realized the pitfalls after suffering the biggest losses. Now, the accounts that stay idle the longest tend to last the longest.

Exactly, there's nothing wrong with that. It's just that "can't help but place an order" really is a fatal flaw... I've suffered from this many times. When the market is sideways, I get so itchy to trade that I make reckless moves, and my account ends up worse than before. Now I've learned to be smarter: if I don't see the clear signal, I won't act no matter what. Although I miss many opportunities, staying alive is the real win.

You're so right; self-discipline truly tests a person the most. I used to be itchy to trade during the sideways market, and as a result, my account shrank rapidly. Now I've learned to keep quiet, and surprisingly, I'm living longer.

You're so right. What I fear most is when I get itchy hands... The few days of sideways trading can really drive people crazy. Watching the market for all kinds of tempting signals, I can't even hold back my fingers.

That's right, the itch to trade is truly deadly. I was once pushed to the limit during a volatile period, but now I can watch the market more patiently.

That's right, I strongly agree with this point. I am actually a cautionary example myself; I used to get very impulsive when I was itching to trade, but now I've learned to hold back, and as a result, I’ve lived longer.

nah this is just inefficiency vector detection wrapped in survivorship bias... the real alpha is exploiting those liquidation cascades during sideways action, not avoiding them lol

Quick fingers are useless; isn't it just rushing to lose even faster? Think carefully before acting—this is the true secret to longevity.
