Recently, if you pay attention to the Ethereum ecosystem, you might feel a strange sense of disconnection.

On one hand, developers are intensely discussing technical details such as scalability solutions, Rollup architecture, Interop, ZK, PBS, and the scene is quite lively. On the other hand, the community is complaining, "Why aren't we more aggressive," "Why is the token price so disappointing," "Is the foundation a bit self-righteous," and the emotions are growing stronger.

It seems like two unrelated voices are actually pointing to the same core issue: what kind of system does Ethereum really want to build?

Thinking carefully, these disputes are not fundamentally technical issues. The real disagreement stems from different understandings of Ethereum's "core values." Only by clarifying these value premises can we explain why Ethereum makes choices that seem "a bit off."

**Anxiety in the ecosystem is fermenting**

Recently, the Ethereum community has been quite restless. From reflections on the central role of Rollups, to discussions about the "Ethereum alignment" concept, and comparisons with other high-performance public chains, an inexplicable sense of unease is gradually spreading.

This anxiety is actually quite reasonable. Other public chains are competing in TPS, TVL, new narratives, response speed; what about Ethereum? It is still repeatedly discussing abstract concepts like state sharding, execution outsourcing, and cross-chain interoperability. From an intuitive perspective, it seems neither sexy nor urgent.

To be honest, this is the awkwardness of Ethereum. On one hand, Rollup is hyped up to the sky, but the token price is still poor. The fundamental problem is that the foundation doesn't know what it wants. Anyway, it looks pretty annoying to me. Developers focus on technology, while retail investors just want to make money. These are two completely different tracks. Everyone is competing over TPS, but ETH is still pondering state fees. It's really a bit ridiculous. Ethereum now just lacks a clear direction. Everyone has their own reasons, and it's a mess.

To be honest, ETH developers are busy sharpening their blades and discussing technical details there, while the coin price keeps falling. This stark contrast is really hard to sustain. It feels like the foundation and the community are not on the same page at all—one thinking about long-term planning, the other eager to deliver results.

Basically, some people want sexy prices, and others want sexy technology. No one can outtalk anyone, haha.

Basically, ETH developers are busy coding, while retail investors are watching the coin price. The two groups are simply not on the same wavelength. After talking about core values for a while, it's better to be direct—everyone wants it to be fast, cheap, and secure, but it's impossible to have it all.

To be honest, Ethereum is now held back by its own idealism. Developers are playing with concepts, while retail investors are watching the price, and they're not on the same page at all. The poor price performance isn't without reason. Don't just talk about Rollup and ZK all day; users simply can't feel these things. Solana has already come out ahead, while Ethereum is still busy obsessing over technical details. That's the gap. Instead of discussing core values, it's better to improve the user experience first. The foundation needs to reflect. Having dreams without execution, the community has already left.
