## Fake Address Action Causes Loss of 50 Million USDT - Ethereum Community Calls for Urgent Security Measures

A large-scale scam attack has just occurred, resulting in a loss of up to 50 million USDT. This incident has prompted a strong warning from the Ethereum Community Fund, urging the industry to change how address information is displayed on digital platforms.

**Sophisticated Scam Tactics Targeting Display Vulnerabilities**

Attackers exploited a common weakness: shortening Ethereum addresses by replacing the middle characters with ellipses. Instead of showing the full address, wallet applications and blockchain explorers often only display the beginning and end, creating an opportunity for malicious actors to craft fake addresses with identical starting and ending characters. Victims, when reviewing transactions before sending, cannot detect the difference and inadvertently transfer funds to the scammers' accounts.

**Demand for Full Address Display - Show Complete Address Information**

The Ethereum Community Fund publicly stated that **displaying full addresses** (is essential immediately). A statement posted on X emphasizes that if all interfaces allow users to see the entire Ethereum address, the risk of scams will be significantly reduced. There will be no room for confusion if these are complete 42-character strings instead of arrow symbols hiding parts of the address.

**Widespread Security Vulnerabilities in Current Systems**

These vulnerabilities are not rare but actually exist in many popular wallet applications and major blockchain browsers. The Ethereum Community Fund pointed out that the current security state has reached a serious level and requires fundamental solutions, not just temporary patches. Developers and platforms are urged to prioritize user safety over interface convenience.

The loss of 50 million USDT serves as a clear warning: technology must serve to protect users' assets, not just provide superficial convenience.
