(MENAFN) China’s top diplomat called on the US, Israel, and Iran on Tuesday to engage in talks and seize every opportunity to advance peace, as stated by reports.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi held discussions with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, focusing on the latest developments in the Middle East.

Wang reiterated China’s consistent stance, emphasizing that all hotspot issues should be resolved “through dialogue and negotiation, not through the use of force.”

“Talking is always better than fighting,” Wang said, adding that this approach serves the interests of Iran and its people and aligns with the broader aspirations of the international community.

He expressed hope that all parties would take every opportunity to promote peace and launch the peace process promptly.

Wang also stressed that China will maintain an objective and impartial position, oppose violations of national sovereignty, actively encourage peace and the cessation of hostilities, and remain committed to regional stability.

Araghchi, for his part, updated Wang on recent regional developments and expressed appreciation for China’s emergency humanitarian support.
