Why Parents Are Homeschooling Their Kids

3.4 million kids are being homeschooled in America right now. That number grows every year.
The human brain doesn't fully develop until 22.
We are the slowest growing most vulnerable mammals on the planet. A horse walks in hours. A human can't feed itself for years.
A child in a classroom in Virginia becomes an engineer. That same child in a camp in Sierra Leone becomes a soldier.
Same brain. Same potential. Different hands shaping it.
Guerrilla armies have turned children into killers. Kids who murdered their own families. Not because they were born evil. Because a warlord got to their mind before their parents could finish raising it.
A child's mind doesn't resist. It absorbs. Whatever you pour in is what comes out.
So when you send your kid to a classroom for 7 hours a day. 180 days a year. For 13 years.
You better know what's being poured in.
My parents had me doing calculus at 6 and school was so slow I was bored until college. They push and build a foundation.
That's what Asian education systems do. Singapore is number 1 in the world in math. The US ranks 33rd out of 35 developed countries.
Bottom barrel.
American schools have abandoned rigor. The pace is slow. The standards are soft. Participation trophies over competition.
2024: 45% of 12th graders scored BELOW BASIC in math. Reading scores hit the lowest point ever. Only 1 in 3 seniors is ready for college math.
We are spending the most ever on education and raising the dumbest kids ever.
So where is the energy going?
Not fundamentals. Ideology.
Teachers lean 9 to 1 left. It used to be 50-50.
In the 1970s classrooms were balanced. That's gone. Now every classroom carries the politics of the person running it.
The most assigned book in education philosophy courses openly calls for the overthrow of capitalist systems.
That's who trains the person standing in front of your 8 year old.
They're not teaching your kid how to think. They're teaching them what to think.
Teachers earn 27% less than every other college graduate in America. Forty percent work a second job. So balanced thinkers leave. Ideologues stay.
True believers teach belief. Not balance.
Your kid comes home and tells you America was built on stolen land. That capitalism is evil. That their skin color makes them an oppressor. That gender is a choice. They're 8.
You didn't teach them that. The school did. And when you asked to opt out a board member said that was just giving kids 'another reason to hate.'
A Christian school got told: change what you believe or lose your funding. The government told a CHURCH. Deny your faith or we cut you off.
If you have faith you have beliefs earned through generations. The school has no right to override that. Their job is to educate. Not reprogram.
Your child can't read. Can't do math. Faces bullying and violence the school won't stop.
Gets fed a worldview you never approved of. By someone who took the job because nobody else wanted it at that salary.
And nobody's fixing any of it.
Every authoritarian regime in history understood one thing. You don't start with the adults. You start with the children.
Pull them from the family. Replace the parents' values with the state's. The Soviets did it. Mao did it. Castro did it. Religion was the enemy. Family was subordinate to the collective.
Nobody is calling America the Soviet Union.
But when the government funds the school. Sets the curriculum. Decides what your child learns about God, and gender and country. And tells you to shut up if you disagree.
That's a pattern.
You. The parent. The one who would die for this child. You have no say in what goes into their mind.
You fund the entire system. You're legally required to hand them over. But what gets poured into that brain? That belongs to the state now.
That's indoctrination, not education.
The question was never why parents are pulling their kids out.
The question is what took so long.
