I just realized that many people in the crypto community still don't fully understand what scams are and how easily they can fall into traps. Today, I want to share some lessons learned so we can protect our assets together.

It's simple: a scam is a fraud—bad actors trying to steal your money through sophisticated tricks. When you fall for a scam, it means you've been caught in the scammers' trap. The danger today is that scams are becoming more complex, with scale that can reach multiple countries and affect millions of victims.

Interestingly, many people know exactly what a scam is but still participate for high profits. For example, Ponzi schemes—where new investors' money pays earlier investors—are common. The earlier you join, the more you earn. But once new investors dry up, the system collapses, and you end up losing everything.

Scams generally fall into a few main types. The most classic is the 2017 ICO scam—scammers launch a project, hire KOLs to promote it, promise the sky, and then disappear with the funds after raising money. Recognizing these is simple: the project lacks real solutions, the team is anonymous, the whitepaper is poorly written, and the roadmap is vague.

The second type involves withdrawing liquidity on DEX platforms like Uniswap or PancakeSwap. At first, the project looks very professional, but after listing, liquidity becomes low or gets locked, and they only promise high APY to lure you in.

Sometimes, scammers even lock trading functions or hack their own projects to dump coins into the community.

To avoid scams, you need to research patiently. Check if the project truly needs blockchain, examine the team, and understand the tokenomics. There are many tools now that help verify smart contracts to detect bad holders or founders. When connecting your wallet to any website, make sure that site is trustworthy. After you're done, revoke permissions to prevent misuse.

It might sound simple to understand what a scam is, but the consequences can be severe. Protect yourself by always staying alert and learning. Wishing everyone safe trading.
